| The lumber industry has a rich tradition in the West, marked by the many business relationships developed in the course of making and selling Western lumber. In an effort to preserve the Western lumber's storied history and celebrate the business relationships that are integral to the industry, a new organization has been formed for veteran industry participants.
The Lumber Pioneers has been established to maintain the many relationships among individuals who developed and advanced the Western lumber industry.
The organization also seeks to document the rich history of companies and individuals who have shaped the industry throughout the decades. Since 2005, the Lumber Pioneers have published two monographs, featuring Pope & Talbot's Port Gamble, Washington sawmill and Gilchrist Timber Company.
Eligibility Membership in the Lumber Pioneers is open to any individual employed for 20 years or more in the Western lumber industry.
